Wednesday - January 19, 2011 - A new Hampton Inn & Suites in
downtown Miami is set to open in September, ahead of schedule.
Workers
topped off the 221-room hotel at 50 SW 12th St. late last week. The
15-story hotel broke ground in June and was intended for completion by
the end of 2011. The project is expected to more than meet the deadline
thanks to plenty of labor and materials and cooperative weather.
At a
total development cost of more than $36 million, the project was
financed in part by an $18 million construction load from Wells Fargo
and a $5 million loan from Monday Morning Mortgage and Investment Co.
Developer Brickell Hotel Group said the project is employing more than
300 construction workers and the hotel; when open, will create 100
long-term jobs.
The hotel will include a cocktail and coffee bar,
fitness room, pool, business center and about 3,650 square foot of
meeting space. A 10,000-square-foot space on the ground floor is
expected to become a restaurant.
